SkiStar Åre: Record-early opening of the VM8 lift

This Saturday will see the seasonal opening of the VM8 lift with the piste Gästrappet, meaning skiable verticals of 454 metres as early as the beginning of November.

Following the more symbolic opening of Minitege last weekend which still resulted in more than 4 600 recorded lift rides, SkiStar Åre now follows up on Saturday 10 November by opening the VM8 lift for the season with, initially, the piste Gästrappet, meaning skiable verticals of 454 metres.

- We are delighted at being able to offer our guests skiing in Gästrappet this early in November. Never before have we been able to present this many skiable verticals this early, says Niclas Sjögren Berg, Head of Destination, Skistar Åre.

A cold month of October with quite a bit of snow has formed the base for preparations. The last few days, temperatures have dropped well below zero while adding another ten centimetres of natural snow. The forecast for the next ten days also looks promising with mostly sub-zero temperatures, according to SMHI.

Ski passes are available at pre-season rates at Skistarshop VM8:an.

The opening hours of the VM8 lift are 08.00-16.30 from Saturday onwards.
Minitege offers free skiing over the weekend between 09.30 and 15.00.
