Eight current SportsAid athletes win medals at Glasgow 2014

Thanks to a number of breakthrough performances at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, where the next generation showed huge potential for the future, eight current recipients of SportsAid Awards won medals.

Five of these medallists were members of Team England while one was from Team Wales and one was from Team Scotland: the youngest member of the team, Erraid Davies. In total SportsAid supported more than 460 athletes who competed at the Games who between them won more than 240 medals.

Fifty-eight current SportsAid athletes were in action in Glasgow and the seven medallists among them are as follows:

• Jemima Yeats-Brown (-63kg judo, bronze) - SportsAid Award 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 (Kent County Council)
• Kristian Callaghan (shooting, 25m rapid fire pistol, bronze) - SportsAid Award 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 (SSE); TASS Award
• Laura Samuel (triple jump, silver) - SportsAid Award 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 (Lloyds Bank Local Heroes)
• Thomas Hamer (200m freestyle S14, silver) - SportsAid Award 2014 (SSE)
• Tin-Tin Ho (table tennis, mixed doubles, silver) - SportsAid Award 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 (GLL)
