An 18-year-old has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of a 19-year-old man in Redhill in January.
Luke Dansie, 18, from Godstone, admitted attempted murder and possession of a bladed article at Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday (28 August).
He will be sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on 20 September.
Police were made aware of the incident when they were called to East Surrey Hospital at around 23.30 on 23 January, where a man, then aged 18, had arrived with stab wounds to his chest and leg.
The incident took place in a car park area off of Woodlands Road, Earlswood.
Inspector Angie Austin, Borough Commander for Reigate and Banstead, said: “The incident in January caused concern for a number of residents and I hope this information will reassure them.
“I want to remind residents that the victim and Dansie were known to each other.
“As a result of this attack, we deployed extra officers to the area and worked hard to deter anyone with criminal intentions from entering the area.
“We would like to thank the local community for all their support and assistance in helping us to tackle this issue.
“We would encourage the public to continue reporting any concerns or information to us as this helps us gather intelligence, build a picture of local activity, identify possible offenders, target patrols and make the most of any other suitable preventative measures.”
Two men, aged 16 and 18, and a 17-year-old woman remain under investigation. Two other teens will face no further action in relation to this investigation.
