Food bank secures £500 grants to help feed families in crisis

Sussex Police has made a £500 donation to help feed families and individuals in Hove.

The Hangleton and West Blatchington Food Bank helps families in crisis, primarily by providing food supplies for people without sufficient funds to buy their own food.

The food bank relies on donations and grants to keep the service running. Due to an increase in referrals, stock levels have been running low. The £500 grant from the Police Property Act Fund will help replenish stock and ensure there continues to be a place for people who need this service in the community.

The Police Property Act Fund (PPAF) is made up of monies received by the police from the sale of unclaimed lost property and property confiscated by order of the courts and then sold.

The food bank is open every Wednesday between 12 and 2pm at St George's Church Hall, Hove. Referrals can be made by partner agencies such as social services or a GP.
