Welcome boost for hospice serving Hastings and Rother

A £500 grant from Sussex Police will enable St Michael's Hospice at Upper Maze Hill, St Leonards-on-Sea, to purchase a set of mobile air-cooling units.

Notably high temperatures this year highlighted the need for such equipment and the local police prevention team was able to use the Police Property Act Fund, made up of monies confiscated by the courts, to help the hospice acquire the units.

Julie Martin, fund-raising assistant at the hospice, said: "The hot summer months can be particularly difficult for our patients but this grant will enable us to buy mobile air-cooling units to provide greater comfort and temperature control in our bedrooms. We'd like to say a big thank you to the police for supporting this need."

St Michaels Hospice provides high-quality, responsive palliative care and bereavement support across Hastings and Rother.
