#runneroftheweek - Vanessa Wright

September 13th will see one of our star marathon runners, Vanessa Wright, from Selby, lacing up her trusty running shoes once again to take part in the famous Great North Run.

Vanessa’s running journey to support us began after we helped her sister-in-law Danielle and her partner, Alex, when their daughter, Isabelle, was being treated for a bowel condition at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Now, two years later, Vanessa is certainly no stranger to long distance running. Since she vowed to take up running to help raise money for us, Vanessa has really racked up those miles. She’s already got an impressive list of races under her belt including both the London and Edinburgh marathons, and the Yorkshire Half.

The Great North Run will be a very fitting end to Vanessa’s impressive 2015 ‘triple challenge’ of marathon runs. This super supporter has already raised an incredible £5,851!

Top running tip: “Mixing up your training is a great way to make sure you don’t get too bored of running – I run four times a week but I also play netball to shake things up a bit.”
