Bedford Half Marathon launches partnership with The Sick Children’s Trust to bring Mini Mile races to Bedford.

The Bedford Half Marathon, in support of The Sick Children’s Trust, is bringing free Mini Mile races to Bedford in September.

Ten schools across Bedford will benefit from 200 free places to help encourage participation, fitness and the well-being of young people from the borough. The Mini Mile races, which will be held after the adult’s half marathon in Priory Country Park, will also include a family fun run. Every finisher will receive a medal and have the chance to meet local Olympians.

Race Director, Mark Draper says: "The Mini Miles are fundamental to what we are trying to achieve with the event. We want to encourage and inspire people of all ages to get active. Too many people are put off sport at a young age so we are trying to change that by offering free, positive, inclusive sport.”

Community Fundraiser for The Sick Children’s Trust, Zoe Morris, says: “The Mini Miles is a great addition to The Bedford Half and really shows just how much of a family fun day out it will be in September. We’d like to say thank you once again to Mark and Jo for their continued support which will help hundreds of families stay close to their seriously ill children in hospital.”

Public entries for the event are now open. Go to www.bedfordhalf.co.uk for more information.
