Big Chocolate Tea Party at Saltburn Learning Campus supports children’s charity

A fun-filled chocolate and tea themed cake sale and Bake-Off have raised over £90 for The Sick Children's Trust.

Staff from Saltburn Learning Campus held a special Chocolate Tea Party on Thursday 21st May for us, buying sweet treats and also getting competitive with a Great Campus Bake Off.

Sally Davies, Science Subject Leader at Huntcliff School received a vast amount of support from the charity whilst her new born son George was at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle earlier this year, and was thrilled to take part in some fundraising.

Sally said: "The Sick Children's Trust's Scott House accommodation is amazing and is managed by some amazing staff. It has made our experience, and those of some other families who have spent almost a year living at the Freeman, that much easier."

With so many delicious bakes, the judges of the Bake-Off - Heads of School for Saltburn Primary and Huntcliff School, Caroline Chadwick and Catherine Juckes respectively, plus campus Cook, Andrew Marsden - had a gruelling task of taste-testing a slice each of the 10 entries.

Technology Technician, Jenny Cumming, was crowned Champion 2015 with her chocolate fudge cake. Jenny said: "I was very surprised, considering I was about to withdraw my entry because I’d experienced a little kitchen drama the night before!"

Anna Michaels, Campaign Manager for The Sick Children's Trust, says: “The Big Chocolate Tea Party is now in its fifth year and we are so grateful to everyone who has taken part and supported the charity. Hosting a chocolate tea party is a great excuse to catch up with family and friends over a cuppa and some chocolate, while raising money to keep families together when they need it most."
