Big school beckons for brave Cameron

Well done to Cameron who's just had his first day at Selby Community Primary School.

Cameron received life-changing injuries in a car crash with his mum and uncle. He was flown by air ambulance to Hull before being rushed to specialists at the Leeds General Infirmary. There, doctors told his family that he had suffered a severe brain injury and he would need intensive care and rehabilitation. 

After a long seven months in hospital, during which mum Tanya stayed at Eckersley House, Cameron was finally discharged in May. He now relies on a wheelchair to get around and has to relearn how to walk. His first day at primary school marks a turning point in what has been a difficult and emotional year for such a brave boy.

Mum Tanya filled us in on his experiences: "Cameron's first day was brilliant. He enjoyed going to school, worked really hard and contributed to class discussions on their topic of the universe, asking how the moon was made. He already understands the classroom rules and is very good at listening. I'm very impressed with him, as are his teachers. 

"We've been told that he's already making new friends and that everyone loves him as he's comical and very loving. We know he's a real little character! Despite everything he's been through over the last year, he's always such a happy, positive little boy and that's what everyone loves about Cameron."
