As a member and board director of the UK IT Association for the past 7 years, I have had the opportunity to observe at close quarters the private sector IT industry at all levels as well as the public sector organisations which seek to help them and improve their performance. UKITA is a founding member of PIN-SME, the European Association for SMEs within the ICT sector. Our chairman, Charles Huthwaite, is the UK representative and a vice-president of PIN-SME which currently represents over 50,000 ICT companies in eight countries.
UKITA is the Trade Association for the UK IT-related SME sector. We started out ten years ago as a public sector-funded project and for the first five years of our development we received significant government investment. UKITA has now successfully made the transition into an independent private sector organisation.
