See how easily you can make a difference – the benefits of Open Data

The UK IT Association (UKITA) has been approached by Steve Reitano to request our members’ assistance in gathering information about the benefits of Open Data.

At UKITA we always support research into Information and Communications Technology, and we think this project by Mr Reitano has much merit for our members and the wider IT community, as such we would urge as many of our members and followers as possible to complete the survey. And please feel free to pass this on to anybody else you feel would be interested.

The purpose of Steve’s research is to conduct a cost-benefit analysis that will identify the advantages of Open Data Portals. In addition to the survey additional information will be drawn from interviews and/or focus groups with Open Data experts from both the Public and Private Sectors.

The findings will be shared on this url: http://beautifuldata.ca and to Royal Roads University and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, who are responsible for Canada’s Open Day Portal (data.gc.ca).

Steve Reitano has the following to say about the research:

“It is my hope that the report may help public organization’s make sound and informative decisions for extending their Open Data initiatives, and hopefully create a more cost effective, transparent, efficient and responsive government.”

You can verify Steve’s credentials with Royal Roads University telephone on Mr. Don Caplan, MBA Major Projects Manager, (250) 391-2600 ext. 4367.
