Press release -

Contigo expands into European energy market with HAKOM

Specialist software developer Contigo has signed a landmark agreement that will see its continued expansion into the European energy market.

The Birmingham-based developer, a member of the UK IT Association,  has completed a partnership agreement with Austrian energy data management experts HAKOM, which will see them act as a sales channel partner for Contigo’s flagship enTrader suite of products.

Designed using the latest technologies, the enTrader suite is a range of next generation software systems created to give energy traders, generators, brokers and utilities the competitive edge in Commodities/Energy Trading and Risk Management (C/ETRM) – an essential part of the energy supply process.

Contigo, which was founded six years ago by three experienced industry professionals, has already provided services to several European companies, including Irish energy provider Bord Gais and French hydroelectric generator CNR.

David Calmonson Contigo, said: “The development of this agreement has been incredibly quick and simple, with everything completed within a couple of weeks and the partnership agreement signed in one day. We had an initial meeting with HAKOM at the E-World Conference in Germany earlier this year and felt that there was a considerable synergy between our companies.

“We arranged a web demonstration to allow HAKOM to see enTrader’s potential through a hands-on demonstration and since the framework and technology that we use is so close to their own, we were able to move things forward extremely quickly.”

Established by two energy industry experts in 1991, HAKOM is based in Vienna and is well known in the energy industry, having already established itself as a market leader in Austria and a successful player in the German energy market.

Under the agreement, HAKOM will use its knowledge of the local markets and key contacts to introduce potential new customres to Contigo’s products and assist in the implementation of the enTrader suite.

Stefan Komornyik, HAKOM, said: “The enTrader suite is a unique product that we believe will bring some genuinely positive benefits to the industry.  Its ease of implementation and user-friendly interface can go a long way to streamlining the C/ETRM process and reduce the risk of errors.

“While we have experience of developing software products, we have taken a decision to implement a greater number of strategic partnerships with other companies, as our experience in the energy market is one of our greatest assets.”

Developed using Contigo’s extensive knowledge and experience within the E/CTRM industry, the enTrader suite focusses on ease of use, ease of implementation and cost effectiveness, creating an extremely attractive product that has garnered widespread interest from a broad range of energy operators.

The full suite includes enTrader, an enterprise-class energy trading, portfolio management and fuel logistics programme; enVoy, a communications and regulatory notifications platform; and energy retail supply cost modelling and analysis platform, enPrice.

Contigo has had an unprecedented year, which has seen the company recognised for the first time in an influential vendor perception study and score a place on the DeLoitte Fast 500 list of the fastest-growing companies in the UK.  The company has also expanded the team following a number of new contract wins and product launches.
