Stone’s Throw Media Nominated for Enterprise and Leadership Award

Two members of the UK IT Association (UKITA) had different roles in a recent award ceremony which was seeking to recognise business achievements and innovation.

The Business Achievements Awards were hosted by UKITA member the University of Wolverhampton on June 12^th this year as part of their 21^st birthday celebrations and another UKITA member was among those nominated for an award.

The awards were held to recognise the organisations that the university has collaborated with over the last 21 years and to highlight the achievements of recent graduates who have made great strides in their chosen fields in business and the community.

There were eight awards categories and UKITA’s own Stone’s Throw Media were nominated in the Alumnus of the Year: Enterprise and Leadership category. Both Mike Chinn and Matt Weston, the managing directors of Stone’s Throw, are graduates of the University of Wolverhampton. They started in business together after being accepted onto the highly successful SPEED program and they have been moving from strength to strength ever since.

They were nominated for the original approach that they have taken to creating corporate media solutions, including videos and animations. In the last few years they have worked with a number of high profile clients including Aston Villa FC, Acorns, Carillion, MOOG and the Higher Education Authority.

The calibre of competition for all of the awards presented on the evening was very high and unfortunately Stone’s Throw Media didn’t win the Alumnus of the Year: Enterprise and Leadership award but the nomination itself is a recognition of the high quality of work and business innovation that Matt and Mike have displayed since forming Stones Throw.

Matt Weston had this to say: "It was great to be nominated at the Business Achievement Awards and we had a really fantastic evening. To be recognised for our achievements and progression in the last 12 months shows we're on the right path. We produced two videos which were shown on the night which was fantastic for us. Congratulations to the category winners Shaylor Group, an award truly deserved for all of their outstanding achievements."
