A UK IT Association member was praised by a prominent member of parliament in her keynote speech at this years Infosec conference. Chloe Smith, Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform, praised the work done by IASME in creating a cyber-security standard that is specifically aimed at the SME market and for forming a partnership with a local insurance firm to help market the product

The IT sector in the EU is projected to need an extra 900,000 professionals by 2015. It is apparent that more needs to be done to attract skilled workers into the IT industry. The UK IT Association has been encouraged by the European Commission’s creation of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, but more needs to be done to close the IT skills gap.

At UKITA we always support research into Information and Communications Technology, and we think this project by Mr Reitano has much merit for our members and the wider IT community, as such we would urge as many of our members and followers as possible to complete the survey. UKITA is a founding member of PIN-SME, the European Association for SMEs within the ICT sector. Our chairman, Charles Huthwaite, is the UK representative and a vice-president of PIN-SME which currently represents over 50,000 ICT companies in eight countries.
UKITA is the Trade Association for the UK IT-related SME sector. We started out ten years ago as a public sector-funded project and for the first five years of our development we received significant government investment. UKITA has now successfully made the transition into an independent private sector organisation.
