Compare and Recycle: With the iPhone 4G Mobile Phone Soon to Launch, Many Look To Recycle Old Mobile Phones
UK Technology
Jun 15, 2010 11:22 BSTSites such as Compare and Recycle offer a list of companies willing to take old mobile phones off of customers’ hands. Their recyclers buy working and nonworking brands and models, like LG, Nokia, Orange and Motorola mobiles, and offer money for people who want to sell their mobile phones, while helping the environment.
More than 24 million people are expected to buy the iPhone 4G this year, and it’s not even out yet. While it’s completely understandable that many are growing eager to cast aside their old, outdated mobile phones for the for the lighter, multitasking, video-conferencing Apple phenomenon, many don’t realize they can recycle their old iPhone (and other mobile phone) models for cash, money that they can then put toward their new mobiles.
Recycling old mobile phones or even slightly outdated 3G mobiles is becoming big business here in the U.K., as the number of people who recycled their phones doubled last year, according to a recent study. However, it is estimated that nearly 85 million mobile phones are still sitting unused, taking up space in desk drawers, while their batteries emit harmful toxins into the environment.
To combat the waste that unused mobiles put out, sites like Compare and Recycle offer a list of companies willing to take old mobile phones off of customers’ hands. Their recyclers buy working and nonworking brands and models - such as LG, Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericcson and Motorola, and offer anywhere from £5 to more than £100 to sell mobile phones that are otherwise deemed useless.
They will also take mobiles that aren’t worth any monetary value and will even pay for shipping costs to ensure that the phones are disposed of properly, refurbished or given to charity.
With the iPhone 4G on the way into stores soon, now may be the time to turn in those old models collecting in your cupboards and see what they are worth. Find out more about how much you can get when you recycle an iPhone mobile or any other mobile phone at http://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk
