ENER-G Switch2 is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of bespoke metering and billing solutions for communal heating, district heating and mixed-use schemes, enabling customers to precisely monitor and control their energy consumption and pay only for what they use.
ENER-G Switch2 offers the entire value chain of a communal or district energy scheme. This extends from the design and supply of hardware (meters, consumer interface units, automatic meter reading systems); to full energy scheme design validation and financial modelling, equipment installation (main plant and dwelling internals); through to metering services, data collection and billing (credit and prepayment solutions).
The complete service also includes consumer debt management, as well as scheme operation through Contract Energy Management and Energy Services Company (ESCo) services, with funding options available tailored to the specific needs of the client and the development.
ENER-G Switch2 has more than 30 years’ experience of working within the social housing sector alongside local authorities, housing associations, registered social landlords, developers and contractors.
The company generates approximately 20 million data transactions per year and 8,500 energy bills per month and provides maintenance services to more than 50,000 dwellings across 435 district and communal energy systems in the UK. Of these, around 25,000 homes are connected to automatic meter reading systems.
ENER-G Switch2 also operates a number of residential and mixed used district heating schemes as the ESCo, over periods of up to 20 years. This includes the operation and maintenance of the energy centre plant such as combined heat and power(CHP) systems, biomass boilers, conventional boilers and thermal stores. The scope also includes the consumer interface units and meters located within the dwellings, as well as the automatic meter reading system, data collectors, prepayment units and any point of sales outlets. The company also has experience of operating the private-wire-network supplying electricity to the development.
Among its specialist services is a complete microgeneration data management solution which has been trialled in partnership with social housing providers. The service provides a total back-office operation for the metering of multiple solar PV and/or micro-CHP installations. It makes it simple to unlock maximum Feed in Tariff (FiT) revenue on-time, and to monitor and protect the investment.
The microgeneration data management service includes supply of Meter Instrument Directive (MID) approved generation meters; installation and commissioning support; provision of SIM cards; FiT licensee registration; half-hourly generation data collection; reporting; monitoring; system benchmarking, and submission and reconciliation of FiT claims. The solution can also be applied to heat generating technologies such as heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar thermal installations to support Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) installations.
