FIG in the running for Smarta 2011
Find Invest Grow
Sep 08, 2011 18:35 BSTHe launched FIG back in 2009 after a frustrating stint on the investment trail trying to raise funds for a previous start-up. He decided to create a vehicle to give support and - more importantly - funding to student and graduate entrepreneurs for free. Young entrepreneurs submit their business plans to the site, get free advice on improving their proposition and business model, and lastly, get access to a network of investors, known as FIGureheads. Since inception, FIG has raised £1.8m for 14 graduate and undergraduate-led start-ups. Of course, FIG takes a cut from the deal to fund its operations but costs are kept low through striking smart deals - like equity finance in return for rent.
- Helping other young entrepreneurs start their own businesses for free
- Match-making investors with smart, exciting new firms
- Results-led business model
