GradFutures' latest survey has shown that 30% of current students and recent graduates think that the Government misinformed them about going to university. One respondent who graduated in 2009 said that they feel they were "given inaccurate information" and "unrealistic expectations" about university. Another believed that had he "had all the information [he] would not have made the decision to go to university".

It is, perhaps, then unsurprising that a further third of undergrads and grads feel that university failed to live up to their expectations. "University for me was not as it was sold," said one graduate, while another commented that her faculty had been "largely unsympathetic" to her problems.

GradFutures' CEO Ian Sprackling says, "Once again, these findings highlight flaws within our higher education system that are leading many of our students and graduates to struggle in their endeavours to secure employment. We deal with many such young people who are either still studying or just graduated who resent those forces that collaborated to leave them with the impression that, once out of university, finding that perfect graduate career would be very easy. These youths are disillusioned and underwhelmed by the support they received, and it's clear that something must be done to prevent this problem from affecting yet more of our nation's young people."
