Apr 26, 2012 09:04 BSTOffenbach, April 26th: The HARIBO Racing Team has announced it will use Falken’s race tyres on its Porsche 997 GT3 R for the VLN series and Nürburgring 24 Hour race. The HARIBO Racing Team was convinced to switch to the Japanese Falken covers, developed specifically for the 997 GT3 R after a successful test at the recent ADAC Westfalenfahrt race. "We were very satisfied with the way the race went, delivering fast, consistent lap times,” reports Marco Alfter, HARIBO’s head of corporate communications. “The Falken tyres proved to be outstanding in coping with the wide range of conditions experienced at the Nürburgring track."
Falken, owned by Sumitomo Rubber Industries, the sixth largest tyre manufacturer in the world, will supply the German confectionery brand's team with its full range of slicks, intermediates and rain tyres, all developed by Falken's in-house engineers. After the Falken team secured its first pole and fastest lap at the opening round, the 2012 tyres have suggested strong pace ahead of the crucial 24 Hour race on May 18th-19th.
With more Porsches running its tyres, Falken is convinced it can build on the impressive start to the season. "We are delighted to be joining forces with the HARIBO Racing Team, a partner that shares our passion for this challenging racetrack in Germany's Eifel region", adds Stefanie Olbertz, Falken’s marketing officer."Through this co-operation we are highly confident that we can achieve outstanding results together."
