Mayoral & Local Election Special

The ‘Mayoral & Local Election Special’ will be broadcast tonight 17th April at 7pm

The studio discussion chaired by John Rees will look at the prospective engagement of Muslims in the London Mayoral and the national local elections. In the wake of the sensational victory of George Galloway’s Respect Party in the recent By-elections in Bradford West, the discussion will ask is there such a thing as a ‘Muslim Vote’ and will respond to the suggestion by some that the Muslim and Asian communities are obsessed with Foreign policy issues. Participants in the discussion include Azad Ali – Community Engagement Coordinator, ENGAGE; Lewis Baston – Policy Analyst, Democratic Audit (Independent Research Organisation); Sukant Chandan – Political Analyst & Writer for Socialist Monthly Review; Furqan Naeem – Chair, University of Bradford Student Union Council & Rashid Mahmood Khan – Participant in Channel 4’s Social Experiment ‘Make Bradford British.
