Reason: The Human Hating Element
Gallant2000
Jul 14, 2010 11:50 BSTYesterday, Gallant2000 colleagues Clenton Farquharson and Alex G Rowley were putting together an email campaign for the Disability Hate Crime Conference on the 14th September 2010 in Birmingham.
The campaign and conference was based on the emotional effect of Hate Crime, looking at Disability Hate Crime in particular. The responses raised a few questions; is there such a thing as hate, or is it only disrespect? Disability Hate Crime a crime based on ignorance and indifference and hate. Ignorance and indifference becomes hate if it is allowed to flourish.
What was received back from some of the emails were hateful and as venomous as poison. The irony is not missed by Clenton Farquharson, who says “People say Disability Hate Crime is not caused by hate, it’s caused by ignorance. But the research we’ve done, as well as the response to the emails have shown us that the foundation for ignorance is still as strong as ever.
Some of the comments around the campaign against Disability Hate Crime has shown us that the ignorance has become contagious. It has lead to some of the hate that we were going to discuss at the conference being thrown back at us.”
The position of the Solicitor is to uphold justice, see to the freedom of every one and above all, help any person who is in need of their services. This was duty was destroyed when Gallant2000 received an email from a representative of one of the UK’s leading Solicitors; “I am hoping that with the Great Repeal Bill on the horizon we will soon see the back of you and all you ilk”. It turns out that some people are more equal than others.
Loving my local market!
