Tableware for international favourites – a new interpretation Pizza Passion and Pasta Passion for perfect serving

Press Release   •   Feb 11, 2016 11:00 GMT

Pizza and pasta are not only favourites in Italy, but are enjoying tremendous popularity throughout the world, perhaps because there are few other meals that allow so many creative "updates". The Austrian star chef Wolfgang Puck runs "Spago", a top restaurant in Los Angeles that serves pizza not with mozzarella and salami but, for instance, with salmon and caviar. Similarly, wholemeal pizza made from gluten-free flour is increasingly in demand. Pasta is also flourishing as a re-discovered favourite. The trend is for the pasta itself to be freshly made in the restaurant and accompanied by sauces and pesto containing unusual and exciting ingredients such as orange or mint. So the most delicious carbohydrates in the world are fun again – also when eaten at home. For everyone who would like to enjoy and serve pizza and pasta in an uncomplicated but stylish fashion, Villeroy & Boch has therefore designed two new, original food concepts: Pizza Passion and Pasta Passion.

Pizza Passion: always a well-rounded success

Pizza Passion presents a large, round pizza plate and an extra flat pizza plate, perfect for everything from solitary pizza enjoyment to a large homemade version with friends and family or even a pizza party. The great advantage of the extra flat plate is that it doesn't tip when the pizza is being cut. The pizza plate is characterised by its clever functionality. Around the edge of the platter are indentations that help you to cut the pizza into pieces of equal size – ideal when serving a number of people at once. The smaller round party platter is made of wood, holds four pizza portions, and is equipped with matching ceramic serving utensils. Cutting grooves help the pizza to be precisely divided and quickly served. The bamboo board allows pizza to be easily taken out of the oven.

The four-piece topping set from Pizza Passion consists of three little dishes and a serving board, and is ideal for serving ingredients like onions, capers or herbs for the individual seasoning and garnishing of the pizza. A pizza stone completes the Pizza Passion range.

Pasta Passion – uncomplicated enjoyment thanks to intelligent features

The Pasta Passion line consists of special plates designed so that all kinds of pasta can be enjoyed everywhere, no matter whether classically at the table or comfortably on the sofa after a hard day. The plates feature a practical slot for the cutlery that stops the fork or spoon from slipping when the dishes are being carried. The spaghetti plate is ideal for long pasta. An integrated twisting indent allows the pasta to be easily and elegantly twisted around the fork with no need for a spoon.

The pasta plate L is designed without a classical rim but features a clever raised edge that pushes short pasta like penne or farfalle onto the fork or spoon, allowing even the last piece of pasta to be easily enjoyed. The pasta plate M is intended for smaller portions and can also be used as a lid for the generous serving dish. The flat, rectangular gratin dish is perfect for lasagne or pasta bakes and has a little edge that prevents the sauce from overflowing.

As parmesan is almost always a must with pasta, Villeroy & Boch has also developed a completely new, ceramic parmesan grater complete with a dish. The lid of the dish is specially adapted to the ergonomics of the hand. The bowl is completely convincing, even just as a serving element.
