Vision Express in Nuneaton welcomed special guest Katie Lolley, a seven-year-old eye cancer survivor, to celebrate the store’s reopening following a refit.
Katie was joined by her mum, Rebecca Poultney and dad Karl Lolley to conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony declaring the upgraded opticians in Queens Road open, on Friday 15 January.
Katie, who is an ambassador for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) was diagnosed with unilateral retinoblastoma (eye cancer) in 2011 after her flashing toothbrush lit up the tumour in her eye. As a result she received extensive treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Katie and her parents, from Coventry, campaign for awareness of retinoblastoma on behalf of CHECT, one of the nominated charities supported by Vision Express.
The revamped Vision Express Nuneaton now boasts upgraded facilities and state-of-the-art examining equipment, allowing the store to continue delivering the highest quality vision care service to the local community.
OptometristInderpal Sagoo said: “We had a great day reopening the store with Katie and her family and were really grateful to have them along.
“The refurbishment means we are equipped to carry on providing the best possible eye care to our customers in Nuneaton and we can’t wait to welcome them into store.”
Katie’s mum Rebecca added: “Everyone at Vision Express Nuneaton has been very welcoming and has made us all feel very special. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to promote and support a fantastic charity that does so much to help children just like Katie.”
Vision Express offers an eye test to best practice guidelines of the College of Optometrists, with each Vision Express optometrist being a qualified eye health professional.
