Press Release   •   Aug 24, 2015 14:25 BST

A Gateshead teenager who is competing in an international water skiing competition at the end of this month, is praising Vision Express for its ongoing support over the past four years.

Harry Young, 16, from Lobley Hill, Gateshead, has been water-skiing for ten years. The British Waterski squad member will compete on behalf of his club, Hazelwood Ski World Lincoln, at his home site, in the Stokes Pro Arm Jump Competition (26 -27 August) alongside international skiers.

For the past four years, Harry has been a regular visitor to Vision Express Metrocentre, where staff have followed his success and provided regular sight tests and lenses.

Harry participates in the slalom, trick and jump water ski disciplines and has already competed in a number of competitions this year, including the British Youth National Championships at Gosfield Lake in Essex, where he came third in the under 17’s jump.

Commenting Harry said: “My thanks go to Vision Express for its continued support – I heavily rely on partnerships such as this one, to allow me to continue to train and compete.

“Keeping on top of my eye health is really important due to the fact I spend so much of my time in the water. Each contact lens has to be thrown away and replaced after every session and frequent eye health checks are essential.”

Caroline Dodd, assistant store manager at Vision Express Metrocentre added: “We love hearing all about how Harry in getting on in his latest competitions and wish him the best of luck in the Stokes Pro Arm Jump Competition.”

Ahead of the competition, Harry popped into the Vision Express Lincoln store for a check-up. Lincoln store manager, Vanessa Madgwick added: “Harry is fighting fit and the team and I are rooting for him at this week’s international competition.”
