They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder – but what if their sight isn’t up to scratch? Vision Express is launching a free eye test deal ahead of Valentine's Day, to urge love-struck couples to give their sight some TLC.
Research commissioned by the optician reveals that despite over two thirds of the 2,000 adults polled[i] saying they enjoy wearing glasses, 42% of women would remove their frames for a date, compared to around 1 in 4 (26%) men.
However, the gender divide narrows when it comes to the bedroom - 3 out of 4 of both sexes agree they would ditch their glasses behind closed doors.
With one in three Brits saying they’d go frames-free for a romantic trip too, the findings indicate that the ‘look of love’ may be slightly blurry.
The latest statistics give a worsening outlook for the nation’s eye health, estimating that nearl 14 million over 18s in the UK haven’t had an eye test in the past two years[ii] – which is the minimum time recommended for a check up by the NHS.
With a reported 37% putting off having an eye test due to concern about the cost[iii], Vision Express is footing the bill, in a bid to encourage people to get the vital test ready for the most romantic day of the year.
