The Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Christine James, helped Vision Express reveal the results of a refit at its Weymouth store.
Councillor James was accompanied by her granddaughter Mollie Geere to conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony declaring the upgraded opticians, in St Mary Street, open on Saturday 30 January.
The visit was familiar for the mayor, as she was part of the store team over 15 years ago.
The refurbishment has seen the installation of new facilities and latest state-of-the-art examining equipment.
Store manager Stephanie Rew said: “We’re delighted with our new store and look forward to welcoming customers to our new look home.
“The feedback from the customers so far has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re delighted that we can continue to provide the same high level of service our customers know us for with sophisticated screening systems and a wide selection of frames.”
Councillor James added: “Continued investment in successful stores like this is a crucial part of maintaining the local economy in Weymouth and it was a pleasure for Mollie and I to unveil the refurbished store.”
