The Vision Express Vision Van at the GrandVision Global Conference

Eye-catching Vision Van greets GrandVision delegates at international event

More than 200 senior executives from global optical retail group GrandVision were greeted by Vision Express’ impressive Vision Van as delegates from over 40 countries joined together for the organisation’s annual conference in Tenerife this month.

The Vision Express Vision Van was launched in March 2018 and has since journeyed the length and breadth of the UK offering free eye tests to the public. Managed in association with the UK’s Road Haulage Association (RHA), it helps to raise awareness of the importance of regular eye tests, particularly for drivers.

This week the vehicle took a break from its UK tour to join the GrandVision Global Conference, where delegates were invited to see for themselves the eye catching supersized glow in the dark lorry, with its sophisticated on-board eye testing facilities which have been hugely popular in grabbing the attention of the public across the Group’s UK & Irish business.

Natalia Andurova, HR Director of GrandVision's Russian business Lensmaster said: “I’m absolutely impressed. It’s a fantastic idea and I think one we can consider using for our business in Russia.”

Vision Express CEO Jonathan Lawson said: “We are extremely proud to have developed the new concept Vision Van in the UK. It is a vital tool in helping us remind people of all ages about the importance of regular eye tests. We’ve had incredibly positive feedback from our corporate and charity partners, as well as at Government level, so we thought it only fitting to bring the Vision Van to Tenerife and introduce it to our global GrandVision colleagues.

“Results from our Vision Van tours are alarming. They have shown that as many as 90% of visitors are overdue an eye test, around two-thirds have out of date or incorrect prescriptions, and up to 1 in 10 have never had an eye test. This demonstrates the value of our investment, and is why, after this major conference, we have a packed schedule for the rest of 2018, visiting areas of the UK and Ireland where people are at increased risk of sight loss.”
