A 14-year-old eye cancer survivor joined the Vision Express Peterborough team as they unveiled their newly refitted store.
Ahead of Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September, Harry Harrison declared the store open in a special visit representing the retailer’s nominated charity, the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, with a ribbon cutting to mark the occasion.
Harry was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma in July 2009 when he was eight years old. He underwent chemotherapy following the diagnosis and had an eye removed as part of his treatment.
The new look Vision Express in The Queensgate Centre will house upgraded facilities and state-of-the-art examining equipment, which will allow the store to continue to deliver an individual and thorough vision care service to the local community.
Store manager Sehnaz Hassan welcomed Harry to the store and said she was extremely pleased with the refit.
She commented: “It was an absolute honour to have Harry along to our store today to perform the ceremonial ribbon-cutting on behalf of the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
“We are all really excited to start using the new equipment in store and the whole team are looking forward to welcoming the public through our doors.”
Harry added: “I’ve had a great day reopening the Vision Express store in Peterborough. Being involved in the ribbon cutting was a fantastic experience and I was really proud to represent CHECT.
“The team at Vision Express Peterborough is extremely professional and helpful and I was really impressed with the great new facilities available.”
