Meet in the Kingdom

Scotland aims to boost European events business with 500 meetings held in one day in the Kingdom of Fife.

From 6-7 October, St Andrews will host a major showcase for Scotland’s appeal as a destination for business visits and events.

Meet in Scotland, the premier MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) event from VisitScotland Business Events, will take place at the Fairmont St Andrews and the Kingsbarns Distillery, in partnership with Welcome to Fife and Fife Council.

Matching 24 of Scotland’s large and small suppliers of event services with the same number of event planners from the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, Meet in Scotland will feature nearly 500 “speed appointments” in one day.

The pride of Scotland’s event venues and suppliers will have the opportunity to highlight their unique hospitality services to some of the top European agencies who are responsible for buying and organising meetings, conferences and incentive travel throughout the world.

Those venues and suppliers include: the Balmoral Hotel; Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh; Macdonald Hotels; Meetings Perthshire; the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness; Cameron House, Loch Lomond; AECC; the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, Melrose.

Event planners will also have the opportunity to travel further afield in Scotland thanks to several familiarisation trips around the country. The trips will take in some of Scotland’s other key event destinations of Stirling, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth and Edinburgh.

      2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design

  • 2016 will shine a spotlight on Scotland’s achievements in innovation, architecture and design through a wide-ranging, variety of new and existing activity.
  • The Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design started on 1 January 2016 and will end on 31 December 2016.It will build on the momentum generated by the 2015 Year of Food and Drink as well as previous years including Homecoming Scotland 2014, the Year of Creative and the Year of Natural.
  • Through a series of exciting events and activity, the year will showcase Scotland’s position as an “innovation nation”, its outstanding built heritage, and its thriving, internationally acclaimed creative industries sector.
  • The Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design is a Scottish Government initiative being led by VisitScotland, and supported by a variety of partners including Creative Scotland, Architecture + Design Scotland, Scottish Tourism Alliance, Scottish Enterprise, The National Trust for Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
