The Ryder Cup is not the end of top-class golf events in Scotland, it is only the beginning

With the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship only days away, Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland said:

“As we look back and reflect on the hugely successful Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, we now turn our attention to the next great golf event being held in Scotland, the incredibly unique and enjoyable Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. With competitors ranging from golf champions such as Rory McIlroy to Hollywood legends such as Hugh Grant and Bill Murray, Scotland, the Home of Golf continues to attract fans of this wonderful game from all corners of the globe.

The Ryder Cup is not the end of top-class golf events in Scotland, it is only the beginning. Scotland will continue to play host to the world’s best golf events in years to come with no fewer than six Major championships confirmed for the four years following The Ryder Cup, including The Open Championship, also at St Andrews Old Course, in 2015.

“With our organisational prowess now firmly established with the incredible success of major events this year like the Commonwealth Games and The Ryder Cup, we must use the high profile attention Scotland has received to convert keen observers into visitors. We must ensure people make the trip to our beautiful country from all over the world whether it’s to play golf or simply experience our breathtaking landscapes, history, culture and architecture.
