Inspiration and education on offer at prestigious Social Enterprise Wales Awards and Conference

There will be both inspiration and education on offer at the Social Enterprise Wales 2014 Awards and  Conference, which are being held at Glasdir in Llanwrst near Llandudno. The Social Enterprise Awards will take place on the evening of Tuesday 30 September and the Conference will start at 10am the following day, Wednesday 1 October 2014.

The Awards and Conference are hosted by the Wales Co-operative Centre and are funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Welsh Government. The Awards are organised in partnership with Social Enterprise UK, whilst the Conference is co-hosted with Menter Iontach Nua.

The event begins with a prestigious Awards ceremony to recognise the innovation, inspiration and perspiration required to set up, run and grow successful social enterprises.

Previous nominees and winners of the Social Enterprise Awards Wales have included Credit Unions, community co-operatives, sports development enterprises, café’s and housing associations. The Awards highlight the range of industries and services that social enterprises operate in.

On the following day, the Social Enterprise Wales Conference takes place - one of the most significant annual events for social entrepreneurs in Wales.

The theme of this year’s Social Enterprise Wales Conference is education, learning and growth. The Conference will look at learning and development for social enterprises, their staff and their boards and discuss both academic and peer led approaches. It will consider how we can inform both commissioners and consumers of the benefits of social enterprises and ask is more marketing or more education needed? It will also look at how to inspire the next generation of social entrepreneurs and social leaders, harnessing the creativity and energy of young people to make working in the social economy an aspiration.

Further information about nominations and booking for the Awards and delegate booking for the Conference are available on the Wales Co-operative Centre website http://www.walescooperative.org/social-enterprise-wales-2014
