​Meet Uppsala BIO at NLSDays

This year is the third occasion that Uppsala BIO participates in NLSDays and the second in collaboration with SSCI (Stockholm Science City Foundation). As before, the venue is Stockholm Waterfront.

Anna Ridderstad Wollberg is Program Director for regional cooperation at Uppsala BIO, whose participation in NLSDays is one of its major initiatives.

What are you hoping for ahead of the conference?

“That a lot will be happening in and around our booth, and that we will see many spontaneous meetings and discussions. I also hope that we will succeed in raising the profile of life science in the region as a whole, and that it is evident to all that Stockholm and Uppsala are working together towards common objectives”.

What’s the most common question asked during NLSDays? And you have the answer?

“The most common question is actually why we don’t have a unifying name for life science in our region, like ‘Medicon Village’ in Lund, for example. And that’s a question that has been raised many times in other contexts, but so far no one has come up with a good solution”.

How can businesses and innovators collaborate with Uppsala BIO, apart from participating in partnering meetings like NLSDays?

“We have programs where researchers and entrepreneurs can apply for funding and support for taking the first steps toward commercialising projects that meet well-defined needs in healthcare and society. We also support the region’s established life science companies in participating in national and international conferences, organise networking events, and run projects tailored to companies’ more specific needs.
