DEWALT® Launches 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer

TOWSON, MD (September 26, 2017) – DEWALT launches the new 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer (DCN890), an operationally gas-free nailer designed for use in concrete and steel applications. Running on a DEWALT 20V MAX* battery, this tool eliminates the need for fuel cells and provides a consistent, powerful alternative that operates on the user’s existing battery platform. The nailer is ideal for commercial framing and tracking, mechanical and electrical installations, and both insulation surface prep applications.

As a fully-electric tool, the 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer resolves several frustrations identified in gas concrete nailers. The inconvenience of maintaining and storing fuel cells on the jobsite is now eliminated and the fully-electric tool has a wider operable temperature and altitude range. Additionally, the fully-electric design also makes the tool highly consistent and easily serviceable.

The 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer is built around a new flywheel-based mechanism, which yields several key performance benefits, including fast application speed, and low noise and recoil levels. The nailer operates at an application speed comparable to gas concrete nailers, providing the benefits of gas-free operation without sacrificing productivity. Additionally, it is the quietest and lowest-recoiling competitive concrete nailer on the market. These features make it a comfortable tool for periods of extended use, as well as an ideal solution for installations in occupied spaces.

Despite low noise and recoil, the 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer delivers an impressive amount of power. It is the only competitive concrete nailer with variable power settings, which allow the user to adjust for applications ranging from hollow block to hard concrete and steel. Additionally, the nailer’s brushless motor provides up to 600 shots per charge using a 5.0Ah DEWALT battery, driving 3/4” .102 fasteners into concrete.

In addition to an impressive power output, the nailer has also been designed with a robust feature-set that provides ease-of-use and convenience. It is the only competitive concrete nailer with a field-serviceable driver blade. This has been designed for a quick and easy change, which the user can complete in under 2 minutes, even on the jobsite. Because the tool doesn’t require a return to the Service Center for this fix, the 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer helps to reduce downtime on the jobsite. Other features include dual, tool-free access points for maintenance, a tool-free driver stall-release lever, and LEDs to illuminate work surfaces.

The nailer will also launch with a range of pins including Concrete, Steel, and Hybrid pins in common lengths in .102”, .120”, .145”, and stepped diameters. These pins are in new angled collations and are compatible only with the 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer. Additionally, a range of accessories (sold separately) will be available to enable the 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer to perform in a variety of applications and trades. Two additional contact trips will be available—both Magnetic (DCN8902) and Non-Magnetic (DCN8903) versions—which will allow for compatibility to drive current POWERS® Stick-E mechanical clips and washers. Additionally, a pole tool for the nailer will also be available at launch.

The 20V MAX* Cordless Concrete Nailer adds to the 20V MAX* System of tools from DEWALT, which now totals over 100 products. Available now where DEWALT products are sold, the nailer will come standard with a three-year limited warranty, two-year free service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee.
