Press release -

Watch the 2010 Nobel Prize Award Ceremonies and Nobel Lectures Live Online

On 10 December, this year’s Nobel Laureates will take center stage in Stockholm and Oslo to receive their Nobel Prize, but wherever you are in the world, you can experience the magic of these prestigious events on Nobelprize.org, the official web site of the Nobel Prize. Nobelprize.org will be streaming live webcasts in HD quality of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony from Oslo, which will honor the imprisoned Chinese dissident, Liu Xiaobo, and the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony from Stockholm, where the Nobel Laureates in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and the Laureates in Economic Sciences will receive their Prize from His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

Before the Award Ceremonies, you can learn more about the Nobel Laureates’ achievements by watching the Nobel Lectures live on Nobelprize.org on 7 and 8 December. This year’s subjects are fascinatingly diverse: the physicists Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov will discuss the exciting properties and potential of graphene, the novel form of carbon that they isolated; Richard Heck, Ei-Ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki will talk about the chemical reactions they developed that are crucial in building complex and valuable organic molecules; Mario Vargas Llosa will speak in praise of reading and fiction; and Peter Diamond, Dale Mortensen and Christopher Pissarides will discuss how their models have allowed economists to understand the dynamic movements of labor, and other, markets. A Nobel Prize Symposium will be held in honor of Robert Edwards to celebrate the legacy of the medical technique that he pioneered – in vitro fertilization.

If you would like to embed the Nobelprize.org video widget on your web site or blog to view the Nobel Lectures live, please visit:  http://nobelprize.org/nobel_organizations/nobelweb/pressroom/widget/live_webcast_widget.html

If you cannot follow the live webcasts, the Award Ceremonies and Nobel Lectures will be available as video on-demand 24 hours after the events.
