Norwegian’s Flights from the U.S. to Barcelona Take Off

Flights from Newark, Los Angeles and Oakland take off for the cradle of Catalan culture 

NEW YORK (JUNE 7, 2017) – Norwegian’s latest nonstop flights out of the United States have taken off this week. The new routes from the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline and Europe’s Best Low-Cost Airline are from Los Angeles, Newark and Oakland to Barcelona in Spain, followed by flights from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona in August.

Last week, the world’s fastest-growing airline announced nonstop service from three U.S. cities to Rome that will launch in November this year.

“Barcelona is one of the key destinations within our global route network and we have seen such strong demand among Americans for this new route. Barcelona is now our sixth nonstop European destination out of the U.S. and over the next few months we will launch another seven nonstop destinations across Europe, making it even more affordable for Americans to travel across the Atlantic,” said Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Service from Los Angeles International Airport to Barcelona-El Prat Airport launched June 5, and operates twice-weekly until the end of August, when it becomes a thrice weekly service. Service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Barcelona launched June 6, with a twice-weekly service until the end of August, when it will operate four times per week. Flights from Oakland International Airport to Barcelona launch June 7, and will initially operate twice weekly until the end of August, from when it will operate three times per week.

Flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Barcelona will launch on August 22, 2017, and operate twice weekly.

Norwegian’s low fare calendar always displays the lowest available fares to Barcelona and all of the airline’s destinations.

Norwegian now offers 52 transatlantic flights from 13 U.S. airports to Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, as well six routes to the French Caribbean, totaling 58 routes out of the United States. Upcoming launches from the U.S. include: Newburgh/Stewart to Edinburgh (June 15); Providence to Edinburgh (June 16), Hartford to Edinburgh (June 17); Newburgh/Stewart to Belfast (July 1); Newburgh/Stewart to Dublin (July 1); Providence to Belfast (July 1); Providence to Bergen (July 1); Newburgh/Stewart to Bergen (July 2); Newburgh/Stewart to Shannon (July 2); Providence to Dublin (July 2); Providence to Cork (July 3); Providence to Shannon (July 3); Orlando to Paris (July 31); Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona (August 22); Denver to London (September 16); Seattle to London (September 17); Providence to Guadeloupe (October 29); Providence to Martinique (October 30); Fort Lauderdale to Martinique (October 30); New York/Newark to Rome (November 9); Los Angeles to Rome (November 11); and Oakland/San Francisco to Rome (February 6, 2018).

Norwegian operates one of the world’s youngest fleets comprised of brand new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, the aircraft type used on the Barcelona routes. All Dreamliner flights include both a Premium and an Economy cabin.
