MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 2, 2011) - As more busy consumers focus on their personal well-being and taking better care of themselves, Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) is exploring ways to make it easier for them to learn how to live healthier every day.  On Nov. 6, Best Buy will launch a "Health Technology" selection at three Chicago-area stores at Butterfield Road, Downers Grove South and Orland Park.  The 1,200 square foot department is dedicated to helping consumers achieve their goals like never before with a broad array of the latest health technology tools in personal care, stress management, and sleep improvement as well as the more traditional health and fitness categories.

Best Buy's "Health Technology" section brings together the latest technologies and tools to support fitness, sleep and nutritional goals, plus the latest innovations in beauty technology for skin, face and hair. In the new department, customers will find some of the hottest products from leading manufacturers such as: the Fitbit Ultra - wireless activity tracker; Withings WI-FI Digital Body Scale, automatically sends your weight to your smartphone or PC; iBaby to monitor your baby from anywhere on your smartphone or computer; the Zeo sleep manager, which helps you better manage and improve your sleep; and the Tanda Clear+, which customers can use in the comfort of their home in an effort to help clear up acne.  In addition, the department also features state-of-the-art heart rate monitoring watches, pedometers, special sport MP3 players, ear buds, headphones, blood pressure monitors and many more of the latest health and beauty tech products.

The three Chicago-area Best Buy stores will serve as test locations for Best Buy's evolving "Health Technology" selection.  "Much of the current understanding is in simply knowing your numbers. Today's tech products can help people manage their health, wellness and personal care in amazing ways," said Kurt Hulander, senior director for health. "Our goal with this department is to make it easier for consumers to understand and integrate this amazing technology into a healthy lifestyle, by enabling them to track and improve their health and well being. We expect to learn a lot about how Best Buy can help people make the most of these new devices when caring for themselves and their families."
