Chairman of the Swedish Society of Cardiology joins the New Karolinska Solna University Hospital Administration

Per Tornvall, Associate Professor of Cardiology at thte Karolinska University Hospital has been appointed medical advisor to the New Karolinska Hospital (NKS).

Per Tornvall’s responsibility will be to take part in the development of healthcare for heart-disease at the new university hospital, to be opened in 2015.

"Per Tornvall has shown a great commitment to developing healthcare as well as being an outstanding researcher and physician. We are very happy to have recruited him to our team”, says Lennart Persson, Head of the NKS Administration.

"This is a unique possibility to be a part of developing tomorrows healthcare. It will be a true challenge as well as very rewarding”, say’s Per Tornvall, Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Karolinska University Hospital.

Retaining positions at the Karolinska Institutet and the Karolinska University Hospital

Aside from his new appointment, Per Tornvall remains in his function as cardiologist at the Clinic for Heart Disease at the Karolinska University Hospital.

He is also an active researcher, especially as responsible for the SMINC-project (Stockholm Myocardial Infarction Normal Coronary Arteries), a project which is active on several locations in the Stockholm region.

In addition, Per Tornvall is currently the Chairman of the Swedish Society of Cardiology.

The New Karolinska Solna University Hospital is a new university hospital to be complete late 2015. Managing the project, to create a state-of-the art facility for healthcare, medical education, and life science research, is the New Karolinska Solna Administration, a part of the Stockholm County Council.
