When you board an airplane and peek in on the cockpit or see one on film or television, you can’t help but notice all the instruments, colors, lights, buttons, numbers, and switches. They monitor the engine(s) during flight and provide data that allows the pilot to keep the engine(s) functioning, decide when maintenance is required, establish overall reliability, and determine ultimate duration. What is an EGT Gauges?
EGT is an acronym for exhaust, gas, and temperature. Such are extremely important engine diagnostic parameters. Some gauges measure both EGT, as well as pressure, RPM, and flow and fuel levels. They are best for smaller or home-built planes. Larger planes most likely have such gauges built in.
