According to the news article, transactions like that would be an option to the initial agreement reached weeks ago with a group, headed by BlackBerry's biggest shareholder, Fairfax Financial Holdings, to take the firm private in a deal valued at about $4.7 billion, a proposal which has faced some criticism due to financing questions.

In response to the report, spokesperson states that if Fairfax Financial Holdings or any of the other suitors eventually takes over the struggling smartphone firm, the new buyer may introduce new features and ideas to make the smartphone more appealing. “Introducing strategies and features to make the device more appealing will benefit customers as well as firms that specialize in business phones.”  

The news article further disclosed that the firm centered in Waterloo, Ontario, has requested for preliminary indication of interest from possible tactical buyers which also consist of Intel Corp and Asian companies LG and Samsung, by early next week. It is not obvious what firm will bid if any. Though, the possible technology buyers have been especially interested in BlackBerry's secure server network and patent portfolio.
