Gotland winner of the Paf Poker Island Games

Press Release   •   Jul 02, 2009 10:37 EDT

"If there will be poker as a new sport in Island Games I would compete in it".
That said the Gotland goalkeeper in football, Michael Zetterström, when he played home the Paf Poker Island Games on Thursday 2nd July in Casino Paf and 1,000 euro.

The platinum sponsor of the NatWest Island Games 2009, the Åland based gaming company Paf, had invited all the participant Islands to a charity poker - Paf Poker Island Games in Casino Paf. Nine islands played the poker tournament. And the number one after 2,5 hours of poker was Gotland, represented by the skilful goalkeeper in the football team Mikael Zetterström.

He said after the win: "I felt that I had it under control from the beginning and that I had played poker the most. That was an advantage".

Zetterström got 1,000 euro
in cash for his poker victory.
"The money will go to the Gotland team. It will be used in preparations before the next games in Isle of Wight 2011".
If poker became one of the sports in the NatWest Island Games Zetterström would like to compete in poker.

Second came Trond Bekken
playing for Hitra, Norway, and the only woman, Bermuda player Jill Faulks, played home the third place.
