Incentive raises seed capital and enters the US market for social collaboration for enterprises

Press Release   •   Oct 30, 2012 10:00 EDT

Incentive is a server software for organizations that would like to collaborate in real-time with tools such as wikis, blogs and activity streams. The team behind Incentive recently raised its first batch of seed capital; $0,5M to initiate the marketing of Incentive in the US.

"What we primarily would like to do is to convert downloads of the free version of Incentive - a couple of thousand per month - to paying customers. In order to do this, we need to build a small and focused marketing organization - and depending on speed and conversion rate we might look for another VC-round in 2013", says Rickard Hansson, founder and CEO of Incentive.

Incentive is today used by thousands of co-workers at a number of American SMEs, among them Veolcys, R&K Solutions, Fontis Solutions and McKenney's. The software is free for up to 3 users, and after that each user costs $75. At 500 users, a flat rate is introduced.

"The typical Incentive-customer is a small or medium enterprise or organization with around 50 users. In the US there are many companies and organizations that fit this description, and even if Incentive has been around since 2008 it is actually not until now the market has taken off", says CEO Rickard Hansson.

Incentive was recently released in version 2.5, with a much upgraded user interface and more focus on instant communication with activity streams. Incentive also introduces a brand new license model where you only pay for the exact amount of users, and not in levels - which is customary among the competition. In 2013 the team plans to release version 3.0, which brings a number of new functionalities, tools and work flows.

"Incentive 3.0 will be the most complete tool on the market for Social Collaboration. There are players out there who are bigger than us, but we are definitely faster", says Rickard Hansson.

During 2012, CEO Rickard Hansson has pulled together a competent advisory board of experienced Nordic entrepreneurs; among others Hampus Jakobsson (founder of The Astonishing Tribe) and Martin Walfisz (founder of Massive Entertaintment).

"Rickard is one of those ultra entrepreneurs who it is great just being around, as he steams of energy. The need Incentive is looking to address is definitely a big one as all organisations suffer from death by internal emails", says Hampus Jakobsson.
