Press Release – For Immediate Release

Grand Junction, Colorado – IntelliTec College is hosting a Community Resource Fair at its Grand Junction campus on Saturday, July 27th. This community event will feature area resources that can assist local residents with specific needs such as housing, daycare, mental health issues, back-to-school transition, employment and more. Proceeds from food sales at the event will go to a community outreach fund that will primarily benefit IntelliTec students and their families.

The Community Resource Fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at IntelliTec’s Grand Junction campus: 772 Horizon Drive, Grand Junction, CO 81506. The public is invited to visit booths of local community representatives, who will provide information about their specific services and how the community can access them. Volunteers will be on hand to help people locate the services they require. Multiple door prizes will be held at the event.

Hot dogs and hamburgers will be sold at the fair. Proceeds from food sales will go to a community outreach fund that will be set aside to primarily aid IntelliTec students with the everyday challenges of living, working and going to school. Common student expenses include school supplies and daycare costs.

IntelliTec College chose to put on the Community Resource Fair after the local school district changed the date that the kids will head back to school. Community Outreach Representative Sandy Sheppard explained that many of these resources “can be used by the community at this time to help with the transition of back to school and everyday life.” For example, the local Kids Aid and Backpacks for Kids programs help supply food to hungry school-age children.

Some of the other resources being represented at the fair include an immunization clinic run by the Mesa County Health Department; advocates for children in foster care and people with disabilities from Ariel Clinical Services; advice on savings, investments and budget planning from the people at Wells Fargo; dental services done by Cavity Free at Three and massage services provided by IntelliTec College’s own massage therapy program.
