IntelliTec College Offers Improved Online GED Testing to Grand Junction

Press Release   •   Jun 12, 2013 22:56 EDT

Grand Junction, Colorado – The new online version of the GED (General Educational Development) test is now available to the Grand Junction community at IntelliTec College. The new GED test is quick, easy to use and more affordable for test takers. Attaining a GED can be a great opportunity for anyone without a high school diploma to change and improve their lives.

IntelliTec College has been offering assistance in General Educational Development (GED) preparation and testing to the public for years. The College now offers the new online GED testing by Pearson VUE on its campus on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00p.m. The cost of each online exam is $24, which is $6 less than the written exam.

According to the GED Academy, “Over 700,000 people take the GED test each year, and over 50% pass.” The GED test has long been considered to be the equivalent of a high school diploma. In fact, many government institutions and universities regard the GED test credential as an efficient prerequisite for admissions. Upon earning one’s GED, candidates may enroll in a college of their choice to pursue a variety of career options.

IntelliTec strongly urges those interested in taking the GED test to attend the free GED preparation classes at the Mesa County Workforce Center in Grand Junction. These classes can help prepare candidates for all aspects of the five GED tests. The tests include Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies. Individuals should sign up for classes as soon as possible, as they are provided on a first come, first serve basis.

GED scores range from 200 to a maximum of 800. According to the GED Testing Service, the current minimum passing score for the GED test “is an average of 450 or higher on each content area test (a total standard score of 2250 or higher). In addition, you have to score at least 410 or higher in each content area.” Anyone who does not pass one or more of the five GED tests the first time has the opportunity to retest a total of three times a year.
