Press Release   •   Feb 09, 2010 20:37 EST

Kansas City, MO Feb 7th, 2010 – Kansas City will play host, February 26th and 27th, to a special Blended Family Marriage Conference serving the growing population of stepfamilies in America. It is estimated that in the Kansas City metro area alone, over 700,000 people are directly living in, or are part of a re-marriage or step-family, often referred to as a ‘blended family’.  The challenges and unique dynamics in these stepfamily relationships impact marriages and children in ways often unseen prior to the marriage.  The legacy of success or failure can impact future relationships for all.

The Friday evening, Saturday conference, held at First Baptist Raytown Church, is specially designed for stepfamilies and delivers research, experience, empathy, understanding, and practical tips to those seeking assistance and success in their blended family. The ‘bonus factor’ is powerful encouragement, inspiration and hope, delivered by nationally recognized speakers and experts in the arena of blended family dynamics.  The Bonded Family, a faith-based organization is the host.  Founded in 2005 by Dan and Rebecca Snell, the Snell’s have provided resources and encouragement opportunities to the 23+ million blended family households in America.  They are hosts of BLENDED FAMILY TODAY, the ‘first of its kind’ weekly radio program, produced specifically to discussed blended family issues and topics.

Featured speakers at the Blended Family Conference are Jim and Julie Ziglar Norman, J.J. Jasper, Dr. Dan Erickson, Patricia Plum and others. The Normans, who themselves are in a blended family, are nationally recognized as leaders in the area of motivation and leadership.  Julie Ziglar Norman, youngest daughter of Zig Ziglar, the inspirational giant who has frequently appeared in Kansas City at ‘Get Motivated’ seminars, will speak both Friday and Saturday.  Jim Norman, who has served as CEO of two national companies, and his wife Julie bring their personal compelling story of stepfamily life, as well as sharing how the brokenness almost ended their marriage.  J.J. Jasper is an American Family Radio morning DJ and Comedian is himself in a blended family. Dr. Dan Erickson, author of “God Loves Do-Over’s” and Patricia Plum, President of The Forgiveness Institute also will lend special insight.

Four direct and challenging topics bring numerous dynamics to bear during the conference.  Marital Discord, Exercising Authority, Parental Substitution and Sibling Rivalry.  Within each topic are numerous sub-topics.

“This group of speakers personally understand what families are going through.  Experience, insight, encouragement and hope all come from these conferences” noted Dan Snell.   “Couples often wait until their in a ’family crisis-mode’, perhaps too deep into dangerous and rough waters. Then they spend thousands of dollars with therapy.  We work to ‘share with them how to paddle the rapids’ BEFORE the crisis conquers the family.  Plus, our conference style is upbeat ‘edu-tainment’ so they come away with a positive experience and a better foundation for success.”
