RED BANK, NJ, October 13, 2010 – Privacyware (http://www.privacyware.com), an innovative provider of pc security, web application firewall and security data analytics software, today announced the release of an update to its IIS Web Application Firewall and Intrusion Prevention solution, ThreatSentry. The update features an enhanced version of its integrated network firewall component that adds OS support for Windows Server 2008 x64 editions. ThreatSentry version 4 supports Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008/R2 and IIS 5, 6, 7 and 7.5 on 32 and 64 bit systems and combines three distinct layers of integrated defense to help system administrators improve web application security and comply with regulatory demands such as Section 6.6 of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
“ThreatSentry offers system administrators a unique and compelling combination of defense capabilities to combat the continuously evolving threats targeting web applications and related systems,” said Greg Salvato, CEO of Privacyware. "ThreatSentry’s advanced Web Application Firewall filters Web server requests through a comprehensive range of rules and signatures. In addition, server requests from known untrusted source IPs, regardless of entry port, are blocked by ThreatSentry’s network-level firewall. And finally, web server requests are profiled and scrutinized by ThreatSentry’s behavioral engine to block the bad traffic that might not be detected by conventional defense technologies.”
An ISAPI Extension hosted in MMC, ThreatSentry’s knowledgebase of pre-configured filters is designed to identify and block a broad range of web application threats including Structured Query Language (SQL) Injection, DoS, Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF/XSRF), Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and other attack techniques. ThreatSentry also features an integrated Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) based firewall that delivers full port blocking of any untrusted IP Address.
ThreatSentry’s core defense modules are augmented by a behavior-based Intrusion prevention component founded on specialized artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies that profiles typical request activity and can detect unusual events and patterns indicative of zero-day and targeted attacks. Default configuration settings are designed to deliver optimal out-of-box performance and administrative control. Low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is made possible through aggressive license pricing targeted for organizations of any size and exceptional ease of deployment and ongoing maintenance.
“Our latest ThreatSentry release delivers unique and dynamic, defense-in-depth protection against the range of web application attacks while at the same time provides enlightening insights into the actual vulnerabilities within the targeted web applications,” added Salvato. “Directly and through our channel partners globally, we look forward to continued success in assisting businesses across almost every industry to protect their vital web application infrastructures and meet PCI DSS and other compliance demands.”
