As an enthusiastic investor, philanthropist, and volunteer, Mary DeFeudis has made an impact in areas that benefit children, cancer research, and bettering the Worcester community. In 2006, Mary donated $100,000 to the United Way campaign, setting the record for the largest, undesignated gift ever given to the United Way of Central Massachusetts. Last year, she challenged members of the Women’s Initiative to increase their participation by offering a $25,000 challenge match. The response was phenomenal, resulting in more dollars going into the community to meet the needs of adolescent girls. Mary also lends her support to the Nativity School of Worcester and to the historic Hanover Theatre. In addition to being an exceptionally generous contributor, Mary is a dedicated volunteer. She serves as Chairwomen on the Board of Directors for the University of Massachusetts Memorial Foundation; on the Board of Directors for The American Red Cross and Nichols College, where she has endowed the Mary DeFeudis Scholarship for deserving students.
