The Planning Binder : What you need?

Press release   •   Mar 13, 2012 06:09 EDT

While every wedding begins with a twinkle in a bride's eye, it comes into being with the help of a wedding binder. Although there are a ton of internet apps and computer programs to make planning a breeze (we especially love the Knot's checklist and Pinterest), nothing quite beats a binder. This is especially essential for contracts and other forms of paperwork.

To make your binder, you'll need:

# 1 2-inch binder (we decided that 1 was too thin, and 3 may be overambitious for those doing most of your planning online)

# binder dividers

# clear cellophane folders (this is easier than hole-punching the papers)

# sticky notes

Here are some suggestions for dividers:

# Venue & Catering

# Floral (the bouquet, centerpieces, boutennieres, etc.)

# Photography & Videography (includes shots to take)

# Bridal Gown & wedding party attire

# Transportation (maps, routes, getaway options)

# Ceremony/Officiant(s)

# Honeymoon

# Guest list

# Gift registry

# Stationary (samples, examples)

If you do much of your planning on the computer, you can print out a new copy each time you make significant updates. Every month, clean out your binder and remove things that no longer matter.
