Why will Blizzard stop supporting Windows XP & Vista?

First, Microsoft has ceased mainstream support for these versions of Windows in 2009 and 2012 respectively. Microsoft ended all support for Window XP in April 2014 and Windows Vista will have all support ended in April 2017.

Second, It is heard that there will a security update in Windows Vista this year. But the security bug within Windows may make it easier for a hacker to gain unauthorized access to a customer’s account which they don’t want.

Third, the Steam Hardware Survey shows less than 2% of Steam users are using XP or Vista. Once it is updated, there are newer APIs, frameworks and tools which aren’t supported on Vista. Given the relatively low userbase for Vista, it is not wise for Blizzard to pay for companies to support Vista.

The support for Windows XP & Vista from Blizzard ends later this year

Since a decent portion of Blizzard fans are still using Windows XP & Vista at the time, even many of them have upgraded to the newer version of these system, Blizzard will continue supporting them. But once these older operating systems are no longer supported, the games will not run on them. So if you are still using one of the older OSes, it is time to think to transfer onto a higher level of system.

Certainly, there will be a staggered schedule from Blizzard to roll out this change. It would happen later this year.

It seems that some people are not satisfied with Windows 8 & 10 to play World of Warcraft. But it is an understandable change for Blizzard. So we hope players aren’t affected by this change then. Safewow is always here to provide all wow players safe cheap wow gold!
