Finnish Goodio wins silver at the Academy of Chocolate Awards

Finnish Goodio grabs the silver medal with it’s Pure Nacional chocolate in the Bean to Bar category at the Academy of Chocolate Awards. This year the awards had a record-breaking 1,200 entries from 45 countries. - Pure Nacional has good aroma, a ‘chocolatey’ chocolate in a richer style, very intense with notes of dark muscovado sugar. It is toasty, a good melt, slightly squidgy, almost a fudge brownie texture and indeed flavour. So rich and intense it satisfies you with a small bite, noted the Academy of Chocolate Jury. 

The Academy of Chocolate Awards was launched in 2015. This year the industry experts took part in 15 days of tasting, judging and debating issues regarding sourcing, transparency and the journey from bean to bar. 

- We are of course very proud of the award, especially since it is unusual for a raw chocolate to do so well in this category. What makes me even happier is that this year a huge amount of smaller producers signed up for the awards which possibly reflects growing awareness of the origin, craft and sustainability of real chocolate, says Jukka Peltola, founder of Goodio. 

Pure Nacional, with 80% of cacao, is the darkest chocolate of Goodio’s selection. The company has the Finnish exclusivity of Pure Nacional, one of the world’s rarest cacao beans. 

Goodio has also flourished with its newly launched ChocOat product family. In April a jury of Finnish experts chose the company’s ChocOat Sweet Licorice as the best vegan chocolate of the year.
