ContentChecked App Offers Peace of Mind by Putting Knowledge of Food Allergies and Intolerances in the Palm of Your Hand

Santa Monica – There are few more serious concerns that have as wide a reach as food allergies and intolerances for Americans. In fact, for the more than 15 million people in the United States suffering from food allergies, celiac disease or stomach intolerances, shopping in a grocery store can be quite a challenge. In some cases, a wrong decision made can result in a hospital visit or even worse. Content Checked Inc, a Santa Monica based start up, has an answer to these very real concerns with a recently launched smartphone app called ContentChecked. The app is developed to simplify the process of determining food ingredients and to help users and their loved ones avoid unnecessary pain and suffering.

“Shoppers armed with ContentChecked will be able to register their food allergies or intolerances and then walk the aisles of their favorite supermarket simply scanning the bar codes of whichever items they are considering purchasing,” commented ContentChecked Marketing Nutrition Director Moa Turander. “Our app can help considerably with some of the most common food allergies and intolerances such as nuts, shellfish, soy, milk and even gluten. Best of all, it can even go one step further by suggesting alternative choices to an item incompatible with food restrictions, and in some cases even provide helpful recipes.”

The area where ContentChecked may have the most positive impact, according to the company, is in children's health. The real need for help in this area is backed by many facts and statistics. For example, according to the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE), the economic cost of children's food allergies is well over a staggering $25 billion per year and rising. Well over 200,000 of these allergic reactions end up sending a child to the emergency room, which represents one child every three minutes in the United States. When considering these statistics, the true value of the app becomes very clear.

“There is an amazing number of children and adults that suffer from food allergies and face a real struggle at the store making choices that won't result in a hospital visit,” remarked Moa Turander, from the company. “With ContentChecked we are providing the comfort and freedom that comes with a safe choice. This can be a truly liberating experience for families and individuals alike.”

Although it is a US-based company, ContentChecked initially debuted in Norway where it has been up and running for over a year. The app has been met with overwhelming enthusiastic support and endorsement in the country, with very important organizations like Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association (NAAF) and the Norwegian Coeliac Association recommending it. The company has set the goal to pursue and establish similar relationships and impact, now and in the near future, in the United States.

A spokesperson from the NAAF recently said, “It's my pleasure to recommend CheckContent as an official commercial partner since February 2013. Here at NAAF we refer to CheckContent as the go-to-tool for anyone with food allergies or intolerances to increase confidence in shopping and cooking. The company has gained a reliable reputation over the time of our collaboration. We are confident that CheckContent will be a welcomed tool and app in the American market too, using their US brand name ContentChecked. Thus, I fully recommend ContentChecked Inc. to organizations and individuals interested in presenting relevant and valuable solutions enhancing the quality of life for the people suffering from allergies.”

Future planned features of the app that include a restaurant guide and reviews, KosherChecked, MigraineChecked, VeganChecked and SugarChecked.
